Lexile
The Lexile Framework for Reading is a scientific approach to reading measurement, providing a common scale for matching reader ability and text difficulty. This allows educators and parents to quickly estimate expected reading comprehension and monitor progress. All major standardized tests can report student reading scores in Lexiles, and tens of thousands of books and tens of millions of articles have Lexile measures.
Lexile measures give teachers and parents the confidence to choose materials that will improve student reading skills across the curriculum and at home. The Lexile Framework, because it places both readers and texts on the same scale, allows educators and families to take a Lexile measure from a test and then actively apply it, selecting books or articles to manage reading comprehension.
As the most widely adopted reading measure in use today, Lexiles are part of reading and testing programs at district, state and federal levels.
The Lexile Framework for Reading is a fundamental part of ESLreadingsmart.com's Reading Program and assessment system. All reading selections are Lexiled, and student reading progress is measured in terms of students' Lexile and grade gains.

History of AEP
The Educational Press Association of America was founded in 1895 by a small group of editors to exchange information and to promote open expression of educational opinion. For more than 100 years, it existed as a university-supported organization, most recently on the campus of Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. As technology grew, publishing expanded from print to multimedia. So in 1995, the board decided that the Association should be expanded to reflect the changing publishing industry. Today, the organization, renamed The Association of Educational Publishers, is supported by nearly 400 print and digital publishers of all sizes and in all media. Now self-sustaining and in headquarters of its own, the Association has expanded its programs to provide information, training, and outreach necessary to the development of quality educational materials. AEP facilitates communication among key interest groups such as educators, policy makers, educational foundations and associations, business and the education media. AEP continues to increase public awareness of the role of supplemental learning resources in successful teaching and learning.
